Upcoming Events The Great Kiwanis Shave Off The Adrian Kiwanis Club, through its Shave-off Committee, is issuing its Second Annual Challenge to Lenawee County non-profit organizations and school groups who would like to raise money for their cause. All you have to do is find one person (or as many as you like) who is willing to have their head(s) shaved bald. Yep, we're talking the cue ball look, silky smooth. Then you solicit people who are willing to sponsor your volunteer with monetary pledges of support. Sound crazy? It is. But, it gives your organization a chance to raise some serious cash without having to run a major fundraising campaign. (Last year 12 volunteers raised roughly $7,000 for 8 organizations!) You will not have to file any grant requests and you get to keep all the proceeds you raise. The Shave-off Committee will organize the event, including arranging a head shave-off site, getting the barbers and assisting with most of the publicity. This sponsorship is intended to help non-profit organizations and schools in Lenawee County raise money to be spent in Lenawee County. It is only open to 501(c)(3)'s and school groups in Lenawee County. It is further understood that the proceeds from your fundraiser will be spent in Lenawee County. It is not open to political groups, organizations raising money for political goals, other service clubs, or foundations or organizations the primary purpose of which is raising funds for other organizations. The Shave-off Committee and the Adrian Kiwanis Club reserve the right to reject the participation of any organization. The Great Shave-off of Lenawee County will take place at 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at a location to be announced.
